The Drive Game

So our Sunday School class went to the Drive game last night. Here is Laurie and I with Reedy Ribbet who is the mascot for a strangely named team. The game was ok- our team could hardly hit the ball, but hey, it was coming at them at almost 90 mph so I guess you can be nervous and not hit it because of that, right?? Anyway, fun times. Flirty frog. We will have to do it again.

What we do on Saturday for fun!

The Ken-Ducky Derby!
And we start with photos for those of you who need PROOF!

My duck- we didn't win, but there is next year BABY!!
The starting gate
The Finish Line
Always need a nice LARGE mascot for an event!

So basically besides being a nice ploy to get a ton of people out on a Saturday to enjoy the beautiful Reedy River Park, this is a charity event. The money goes towards a rubber baseball field for challenged children. It was great fun, although ducks are a lot slower racers than the horses are. :-)

April 26th Carrie & Duane's Wedding

The Happy Couple at the Rehersal Dinner

So last weekend was a whirlwind weekend. Kari and I went to Carrie and Duane's wedding at Semiahmoo Resort in Blaine, WA ( I think it is about the most NW you can get in the US). Carrie is from Abbottsford, BC; Duane is from NY so they had to get married in the US, but they wanted to be near her family. The resort was gorgeous!

Kari and I got up early Friday ( 345 am, I think!) to catch a 0600 flight out of Charlotte. We had a layover in Chicago. Then we got on a really boring 4 hr flight to Seattle. Oh, I totally forgot to mention that Kari had been really sick with a virus- which included getting IV fluids on Thursday afternoon so she could make the wedding. Anyway, I had rented a movie for my Ipod so that was our entertainment for that flight. We did see Mt Ranier and Mt St Helen's as we flew into Seattle. We also got to see the Needle from the air and also from I-5 as we drove up to Blaine. Kari and I were both starving when we got to Seattle. So after we got our luggage and our rental car, we stopped at a mall on the way out of Seattle to get some food and to get our Seattle Starbucks mugs. ( come over sometime if you want to see the full collection)

The drive was about 2.5 hrs and we got there right when the rehersal was supposed to be. But because we had been travelling and up so long, we skipped out on the rehersal and made it for the dinner at the golf course there. After the dinner, the bride and groom and their attendants and their significant others ( or in our case- sister- hee hee) stayed up and hung out together. The next morning, all of us girls had breakfast togther ( they serve some great breakfast there!!) and then got ready for the wedding which was at 3.

Kari and I got up early Sunday ( 4 am there) to fly back. I was back at my house at 11. So total whirlwind weekend but really fun.
